Target
Audience
The target audience for our horror trailer is teenagers/young adults aged 15-25, although our main focus will be on the male gender in this age bracket as this is shown to be the predominant market segment for horror films as stated by Wes Craven. Obtaining the Correct target audience is vital in the production and planning of our movie trailer both for visual and commercial reasons. Firstly the target audience will effect what we include in our film. For example; a PG film would not include blood and gore, whereas ours will. legally, there are restrictions too as the BBFC observe what goes into existing movies and offers them a rating. in order to ensure we do directly relate to our chosen audience, we have researched the features of a 15 rated film from the BBFC website so that we can include these aspects in our film. From our audience research we found that our audience thought that paranormal was the best sub-genre and we thought that this was a good sub-genre to base our trailer on. We also decided that our idea of a basement was good because the audience thought that 'bad things happened in bad places' and so we decided to stick with our initial idea as a basement isn't a safe place. We also got ideas of key things to put into our trailer about the basement to make it scarier and more tense. (rhiannon)
